Louise Pubols Public History Fund

On July 24, 2017, the communities of western and public history experienced a significant loss with the passing of long-time WHA member Louise Pubols. The WHA Council created the Louise Pubols Public History Fund to honor her prize-winning publications, landmark exhibitions, and extraordinary service to the WHA. In keeping with Louise's deep commitment to public history, the Pubols Fund will support the attendance of a public historian to the WHA's annual meeting.

The inaugural scholarship from the Louise Pubols Public History Fund will be made prior to the 2017 WHA Conference in San Diego (November 1-4). It will include complimentary registration, a ticket to the Awards Banquet, and $250 to subvent travel expenses to this year's WHA Conference. Eligibility for the Fund includes:

1. Applicants must be members of the WHA

2. Applicants must be on the 2017 WHA Conference Program

3. Applicants must be a practicing public historian without institutional support for conference travel.

To apply, please send a CV (one page) and a brief statement (no more than 250 words) of your experience as a public historian. Applications must be submitted via email to westernhistoryassociation@gmail.com by October 1.
