FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN:
GRADUATE STUDENT EXCELLENCE
The Western History Association is pleased to announce a new fundraising initiative to support graduate students in the field of western history. This is an initiative to enhance the recognition of graduate students and underwrite their advancement in histories of the North American West and its people through honoring exceptional research, excellence in writing, and attendance at the WHA conference.
An anonymous donor has agreed to match every donation up to $25,000 that we raise this year for this challenge grant (your $1 gift will equal $2 for the fund)!
Funds will be allocated equally between the following awards:
Walter Rundell Graduate Student Award
Beverly Purrington/Richard White Western History Dissertation Prize
WHA Graduate Student Prize
Pictured above are the graduate student award recipients from 2024.
SUPPORT THE WHA TODAY!
Each year the Western History Association awards thousands of dollars to scholars, authors, public historians, students, teachers, editors, and publishers. These awards and honors are possible through the generosity of friends, family, and members of the western history community.
The WHA also accepts donations to the organization's operations (WHA General Fund), award funds, and the Graduate Student Meal Fund year-round. Donations to the General Fund allow the WHA to expand its programs and initiatives through staff growth and institutional sponsorships. The GSMF provides students with the opportunity to receive complimentary tickets to conference meals and events. The WHA urges you to consider donating to this fund to support student attendance and involvement in the organization.
We thank you in advance for your consideration and support. The WHA is a section 501(c)(3) professional organization and all donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by the law. Please contact our office if you have any questions.
